Glass Jar with Lids
Glass jars that contain lids are a classic and have been
around since the 1940s. These jars are perfect for making
preserves and jelly, snacks, or simply drinking some sweet
tea. There are many types of jars that have lids, such as
the mason jar which is made of clear glass with a large
capacity.
These jars are dishwasher safe and usually hold about
fourteen ounces. There are even personalized mason jars that
can be used for gifts and favors. There is virtually no end
to what can fill these jars such as: bath salts, candy, pens
or paper clips, or candle wax. With private labels on the
unique jars, your guests or friends will feel extra special.
There are many colors and themes to choose from, for all
sorts of occasions.
Interestingly enough, glass is made by melting soda ash,
sand, and lime together at an extremely high temperature
until a sticky, thick liquid forms. This substance is
commonly referred to "syrup". When the syrup is hot, it can
be blown into any shape that the manufacturer chooses.
When the substance cools completely down, then it turns into
what we know as glass. When shapes are formed out of this
syrup, it is called drawing or pressing. Most of our dishes
and glasses that we use in our very own kitchen is pressed
using this very unique way of heating and cooling these
materials. After the glass is cooled and shaped it must go
through several processes to prevent it from shattering.

What are glass jars typically used for
You name it...The jars are used for storage of fresh
foods, dried foods and herbs, to can or preserve foods, to
make gifts, etc.
Tips for Making gifts is a jar. Use dry
ingredients, layer the ingredients in the jar. Type out the
recipe and put it under the lid of the jar. You may decorate
the lid as you wish. This will be a wonderful gift for
anyone. The jar with the many layers can be used to make the
recipe or just put in their house for display. You can even
use M&M's as one of your layers, to add more color.
Tips for opening sealed glass jars: Here is a few
hints to help when you cannot get a lid off the jar. Try
putting on a pair of rubber gloves, this will give you the
grip that you need to take off your on lid. Usually the lid
will come off with very little resistance. If that does not
work- you might also try looping a rubber band around the
lid until the band is tight which will give you more grip if
you do not happen to have rubber gloves handy. One more
trick that I have under my sleeve is to immerge the glass
jar underneath warm water for about one minute, this will
cause the lid to expand which will make the jar easier to
open.
